Florida Governor Accused of Turning Healthcare Settlement Into a Personal Slush Fund

Florida Governor Accused of Turning Healthcare Settlement Into a Personal Slush Fund

Shame on the Florida House for staying silent while this unfolds.

Centene, a major healthcare company, was ordered to cough up $67 million in a settlement with the state. Most of that—$57 million—went into Florida’s general fund, where it belongs.

But the other $10 million? That was quietly funneled into the Hope Florida Foundation—the same “charity” that backs Casey DeSantis’s Hope Florida initiative.

And now, there’s a trail of money leading from that foundation to political action committees tied to the governor—committees that just so happened to fight against Florida’s recreational marijuana ballot initiative.

In other words, state settlement money meant to serve Floridians somehow ended up bankrolling the governor’s political agenda.

Lawmakers were left in the dark. Voters were kept in the dark.

And the governor? He’s under serious fire, not just for questionable ethics, but for possibly crossing into illegal territory.

This wasn’t a policy dispute. This was a health care fine, turned into a political war chest, passed through a “charity” with the First Lady’s name on it.

The Florida House? Silent.

The governor? Unbothered.

The people of Florida? Short-changed again.

But sure—tell us more about “law and order.”
