So today was supposed to be a special session—a big one. The agenda?

✔️ Crack down on immigration

✔️ Provide hurricane relief

✔️ Address condo safety

✔️ Make it harder for citizens to put constitutional amendments on the ballot

BUT—plot twist—the Republican-controlled legislature said: Nah, we ain't doing none of that right now. That can wait for the regular session.

What did they decide to take up? Immigration. But not in the way Governor Ron "Mini Mussolini" DeSantis wanted.

See, DeSantis wanted to personally oversee immigration enforcement in Florida—because nothing says "small government" like one man running everything.

BUT the Republican legislature said "NOPE" and decided to hand that power to the Agriculture Commissioner instead.

Hmm… now why would they do that?

Yep. Florida Republicans are actively protecting the industries that rely on immigrant labor—all while pretending to crack down on immigration. It's almost like... they don’t actually care about stopping it? Just controlling it? Hmm.

Last year, DeSantis vetoed $57 million from the legislative budget to strong-arm the legislature.
