Florida’s Dreamers: Paying Taxes, Building the Economy—But Still Fighting for a Future

Florida’s Dreamers: Paying Taxes, Building the Economy—But Still Fighting for a Future

For everyone debating immigration, here’s a fact: undocumented immigrants in Florida pay $1.8 billion in state and local taxes every year.

That includes $134.8 million from DACA recipients and their families—young people who grew up here, went to Florida high schools, and call this country home.

They Keep Florida Running

Undocumented workers are the backbone of:

✅ Agriculture – Harvesting crops that feed the state.

✅ Tourism – Serving in hotels and restaurants that drive Florida’s economy.

✅ Construction – Building homes and infrastructure.

They do the jobs no one else will, often in dangerous conditions for low pay—and yet, some politicians still act like they contribute nothing.

Dreamers: The Kids Who Grew Up American

These young people were brought here as children. This is the only country they know.

A decade ago, both parties supported policies to help them thrive. Now? Politicians are using them as pawns.

Blocking them from college or making life harder doesn’t just hurt them—it hurts Florida’s economy and robs the state of future doctors, engineers, and teachers.

If Florida wants a strong workforce and economy, it should invest in Dreamers—not shut them out.
