Immigration Update: Be Cautious, Even If You Think You're Safe

So here’s an important update on immigration that everyone needs to hear. This morning, one of my staff members came into the office and shared some pretty shocking news.

One of our clients, who was checking in with ICE as part of his routine process — doing everything by the book with his social security card and EAD (Employment Authorization Document) — was detained by ICE on his way in.

This is particularly alarming because he’s under Temporary Protected Status (TPS). He did everything right. He wasn’t hiding, he wasn’t out of status, yet ICE still detained him.

Now he’s being held in Florence Immigration Processing Center.

This serves as a warning: No one is completely safe, even if you're following the rules.
If you or anyone you know is checking in with ICE or feels like they’re “in the clear” with their paperwork, be very, very careful.

It might happen to anyone.
