Republicans Unveil Funding Bill: A Sneaky Move to Gut Social Services 🚨
It’s always the same—they wait until the weekend to do the dirty work. Republicans just dropped a funding bill one week before the government is set to shut down. And if you remember, they already passed a budget resolution a couple of weeks ago that sought to cut Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, food stamps, and education, all to give a $4.5 trillion tax cut to the ultra-wealthy.
So, why the rush for a funding bill, if they’ve already passed their budget? Well, here’s the catch: a budget resolution is just a framework, not a law. It's like a rough draft with zero action. Now, they need the appropriations bills to figure out where and how they’re going to actually cut the $4.5 trillion.
But here’s the problem: Even with control of the House and the Senate, they can’t even get their own party to agree on their plan. Republicans are getting booed by their own voters at town halls, to the point where leaders are telling them to stop holding in-person town halls.
So, on a Saturday—when everyone’s distracted—they unveil a 99-page document full of terrible cuts:
$10 million cut to disaster relief loans for small businesses.
A fully cut FEMA, including local emergency preparedness funding.
They’re defunding the police by slashing $417 million from Community Policing Programs.
$242 million cut from Medicare/Medicaid (good luck finding that fraud, waste, and abuse now).
And the kicker: $15 million slashed from election security—making it easier for foreign interference to mess with our elections again.
So what’s the play here? Republicans are betting that Democrats will oppose this chaos, and when they do, they'll turn it around and blame them for causing the shutdown. Shut it down, Democrats. Shut this shit down
