Riley Gaines Misses Olympics… by 85 Places — Still Blames Trans Swimmer for It
America’s favorite non-Olympian victim is back in the headlines — and this time, she’s being fact-checked by an actual Olympic medalist.
Monica Aksamit, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and decorated athlete, just dropped the receipts on Riley Gaines, who has built a whole brand claiming she was robbed by trans swimmer Lia Thomas.
Monica’s message? Let’s cut the nonsense.
Turns out Riley never went to the Olympics. She finished 85th in the 2021 Olympic Trials. Not 5th. Not 15th. 85th.
Also: Gaines and Thomas tied for 5th place at NCAA finals. Yes, tied. Which means if Thomas hadn’t competed, Gaines would have still finished… 5th.
Let that sink in: Leah Thomas didn’t take a medal from Riley. Four other cisgender women did.
Still, Gaines keeps running to microphones across America, acting like she got bumped off the podium by a "boy." Even though the NCAA race was won by cisgender athlete Taylor Ruck, and no records were broken by Thomas at all.
But sure, let’s keep pretending this is about “fairness in women’s sports” and not just the latest grift to rile up outrage and gain followers.
Because when facts don’t support the narrative, just say “boys are taking over” and wait for the headlines to roll in.
Meanwhile, real Olympians are out here saying: That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.
