Trump Accidentally Argues That His Own Son Shouldn't Be a U.S. Citizen—Oops!

Oh, this is rich. Donald Trump is back on his anti-immigration nonsense, now gunning for birthright citizenship, because apparently, being born in the U.S. just isn’t enough anymore.

And here’s where it gets hilarious: By Trump’s own logic, Barron Trump—his own son—shouldn’t be a U.S. citizen.

Why? Well, let’s break it down:

Trump wants to end birthright citizenship for children of non-citizens.

At the time of Barron’s birth in 2006, Melania Trump was not yet a U.S. citizen (she naturalized in 2006, after Barron was born).

Meaning that if Trump’s new rule applied back then… Barron wouldn’t be a citizen.

Oops.

So, either Trump didn’t think this one through, or he just really wanted to make sure his own son gets deported. Either way, chef’s kiss, this is comedy gold.

But don’t worry—this won’t actually happen because, like most of Trump’s legal arguments, this one is pure nonsense. Birthright citizenship is in the 14th Amendment, and last time I checked, amending the Constitution isn’t as easy as rage-tweeting about it.

So yeah, good luck enforcing a law that would strip your own kid of citizenship, Donnie. Maybe Barron can apply for asylum at Mar-a-Lago.
