Trump Promises No Federal Income Tax for 92% of Americans

Trump Promises No Federal Income Tax for 92% of Americans — Just in Time to Charge Them $16K for Groceries, Gas, and Life Itself

Donald Trump and billionaire Howard Lutnick just dropped their latest campaign hit single: “No Taxes for You (Unless You Eat Food, Drive, or Live Somewhere).”

The pitch? Americans making under $150K won’t pay any federal income tax. Sounds great — until the fine print gets bigger than the Constitution.

Here’s the twist: 92% of Americans make under $150K. That’s most people. And while they only cover about 25% of the federal income tax pie, that’s still $602.5 billion in “oops, now what?” money. So where does that come from?

Tariffs. Lots of tariffs. Tariffs on imports so steep, your next smartphone might cost the same as your rent. Companies have already said they'll just jack prices up 25–80% to offset the costs — because of course they will.

So while you're busy celebrating not writing a tax check to the IRS, you’ll now be paying that money back at Target, Walgreens, and Trader Joe’s. According to basic math (and unfortunately, it’s very basic):

$4,114/year per household to cover the $602.5B shortfall

$12,500/year if the goal is to reduce the national debt

$16,700/year if you enjoy education, roads, and electricity

And just to sweeten the deal, Trump also wants to send things like education funding back to the states, meaning your property taxes, city taxes, and state taxes get to pick up the slack. Hope your wallet is into group workouts.

But don’t worry — billionaires are totally on board. Oh wait, no they’re not. They make money from stocks, not salaries, and the more stuff costs, the less everyone spends. So the rich cut back, while the lower and middle class foot the entire bill — again.

This is less "tax relief" and more like a magic trick: now you see your taxes… now you pay them everywhere else.

Bottom line? No federal tax sounds amazing, until your groceries cost $100, your rent goes up, your kid’s school loses funding, and your prescription refill requires a second mortgage.

Next time someone promises you “no taxes,” just ask: “And how much will it cost me?”
