Trump’s Secret Police: The Real Deal?
Russia has the FSB, Belarus has the KGB, and North Korea has the Ministry of State Security. So, it's no surprise that Trump, with his admiration for authoritarian regimes, has his own secret police. And they're not as subtle as you might think.
Secret police are known for seven key traits:
Loyalty to the leader or party
Psychological terror and intimidation
Protection of the regime, not the people
Operating outside the law
Repression of dissent
If this sounds familiar, it should. ICE checks all those boxes. The only thing they're not doing? Surveilling the population and controlling media—but don’t worry, Trump has other ways to handle that.
Now we have masked, unmarked police in unmarked cars, with the authority to arrest anyone without cause, detain them without a judge, and deport them. Sound familiar? The Trump administration is giving a whole new meaning to “law and order,” and it’s not the kind most Americans thought they’d be seeing.
