US Citizen Wrongfully Held in ICE Custody – His Name is Juan Carlos Lopez Gomez

I’m making this post to spread the word about Juan Carlos Lopez Gomez, a US-born citizen currently being held in ICE custody in Florida. Despite being born in Georgia, they’re trying to transfer him to immigration detention.

This morning, Juan's mother and a community advocate presented his birth certificate at a court hearing in Leon County. The proof was clear—he is an American citizen. Yet, the judge claimed she had no authority to release him, and they’re moving forward with detaining him.

This is a US citizen being treated like an immigrant without any grounds. We cannot allow this. We have to stop this injustice before it goes any further. Let’s raise awareness, and let’s fight for Juan Carlos Lopez Gomez’s freedom.
