Why Aren't 600,000 Undocumented Europeans Being Rounded Up?

So, here’s a question that needs to be asked: Why aren’t we seeing any of the 600,000 undocumented Europeans in the U.S. being rounded up and treated like criminals? Why is the focus so intensely on Latinx and other communities of color, while white immigrants are largely left alone?

Let’s be real for a second: it’s because they’re white. The truth is, racial bias and discrimination are baked into these policies. We hear all about the "threat" of undocumented immigrants, but we only seem to care when they don't look like us, when they don’t share the same skin tone.

And let’s not pretend this isn't happening. We’ve all seen the headlines targeting brown and black immigrants for deportation, but why are white undocumented Europeans so often spared? The answer isn’t that they’re “better” immigrants, it’s that their skin color doesn’t fuel the same toxic, racially-driven fear that has been weaponized against other immigrant communities.

So when politicians and pundits talk about “illegal immigration,” let’s remember the selective outrage. We’re not rounding up Europeans because they don’t fit the narrative of the “undeserving” immigrant. It's time we face the uncomfortable truth that race is playing a huge role in how we view and treat undocumented people in this country.
